The Future: Who knows? We are in the process of adopting a second child. We are very early in the process and there is no guarantee of success. It is not that there is a limit, or really any prohibition against us, per say. Rather, as we live in a foreign country from which we are not allowed to adopt locally as we did with Isabel, we are in the process of trying to “adopt by correspondence” as it were. We have found an agency in Florida that works with US citizens in our situation, but it will take a lot of time and even more Fed-Ex'ing' between here and Florida before we know anything for certain.
Work: We really like our professional and personal lives here (and when you live the compound life, the two are inextricably mixed) and hope to stay for several years to come. Really Riyadh, for all of its beige-ness, is a nice place to have to live on a compound in. Professionally we are happy with the school. Is it perfect? Of course not, but the school is interested in improving itself, growing and keeping current, that alone makes us feel good about working here. Ideally we would like to stay until both kids are in regular classes. Then...well, stay tuned!
